I do not knowwhen they started putting the auto slack adjusters on, but my 84 has them, I just replaced them all.

My 78 FC 35' make the very same noise under heavy braking. The NTSB
article refers to vehicles equipted with automatic slack adjusters.
From what I have read on this thread all the wanderlodges are too old
to have automatic slack adjusters. I must admit that I adjust my
brakes a lot. If I am going to slide under the bus to check the
brakes I might as well adjust them.
