DDEC
The DDEC 1 is NOT a troublemaker by itself, but, ...
In a 15-year-old coach, electrical problems do crop up. If those
electrical problems include bad connections to the DDEC, or bad
electrical grounds on the engine where starting current can back-feed
through sensitive electronics, the DDEC can become a problem and so can
the ATEC.

The "problem" with the DDEC1 is that parts are difficult to find and a
complete upgrade of the system is expensive. I've heard some pretty
tall repair bills from a toasted DDEC1 module.

If you decide to buy a DDEC1 coach ('88 and at least one '89) it is a
very good investment to go through the engine/transmisson.control
wiring and grounds.
