Check wiring connections, clean/repair as necessary.

New ground straps for the engine, transmission, and batteries is IMO
a good idea.

The transmission control is grounded at the dash, transmission is
grounded at the transmission. A long distance in the PT40 and prone
to ground loops and noise. It is IMO a good idea to run a dedicated
ground either from the transmission ground point, or to ensure that
the copper ground buss is excruiatingly well connected at the rear
and use a dedicated ground wire from the copper ground buss.
