Oil filters

Art, Napa has diff schedules of pricesper customers expected $volumn . you canhammer them for a better deal. Agood player for bigtruck parts that wins much of our business now isDrakeParts. There is one in Fontana and Perris.

One of the more commonissues that happen when changing old filters is with the seating surface. Old orings and seals hangup and need to bescraped off. I'v pulled filters that had twoorings in the seat???? I wash seating surface with diesel fuel or wd40 or simple greento keep grit out of the new seat. Prior to mounting I put a finger full of grease (backoff Robertson) on the rubber oring or seal to keep it from ripping when tightened. someone told me it is best not to get grease on the threads??

If you need to remove hoses and want to reuse them, re mount the orientation identical. Best to marka reference line. over time the hose plys get set and lose the ability to relax in a new position. a common result is torn ply's and blockage in thehose interior. Damage not outwardly noticeable.

Hard to reach filters are hard to remount . One of the fears is cross threading the hardware. Prior to removal check the trajectory of the filter. quite often the filter is not a perfect perpendicular or parallelof a frame, engine or other assumed reference. sometime both axis are off by a degree or 10.
