Tow Hitch
Here's my thought process:
If he is using a ball hitch on the bird, and the tow bar connects onto the ball, it is not as stable or reliable/rigid as a receiver tow bar. (the hitch could seperate from the ball more easily if at an angle and given stress). From various readings on tow sites (such as blue ox), a ball mount tow bar must be level at the initial part of the tow bar connected onto the ball. I may not be explaining this well, but checking blue ox ball mount hitch documentation, and receiver hitch documentation will better explain it.
