Rear view monitor
Abovethe drivers head on the left is the pull out on/off knob for the old tv/monitor and the old tv chassis, I removed the old aluminum box that contained the old chassis and cut the wires to that pull out tv on/off knob.
Then I took the 12 volt wires that I was running to power the new Radio Schack tv andcut one of them (the power wire) and soldered the ends to the terminals on the back of that existing switch, now that old switch turns the new tv monitor on and off.If you can find the 12 volt wires that powered the old chassis you can use them and that way the original fuse or breaker thatprotected the old monitor will be protecting the new one.
Good Luck
Wayne

Or, did you just remove the clear panel? Jerry 85 PT40 --- In "WanderlodgeForum%40yahoogroups.com", Wayne Kotila > > I have a 1985 PT40 and had to replace my rear camera monitor above the windsheild. I went to Radio Shack andbought a small 12 volt black and white tv that fit behind the existing clear panel, I think it was a 5", I did this about 5 years ago and I think at that time I paid $79.00 for the tv. > Wayne > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > From: jburgessx2 > To: "WanderlodgeForum%40yahoogroups.com" > Sent: Sunday, March 29, 2009 10:04:10 PM > Subject: [WanderlodgeForum] Rear view monitor > > > Has anyone replaced the tv monitor for the back-up camera on an 85 PT40? My tv/monitor seems very worn out, heavy and needs to be replaced. Of course, I would like to do it as economically as possible. Also, do I have to replace all the cables or will the existing cables work with new systems. I realize I might have to replace the camera as well. > > Thanks in advance. > > Jerry > 85 PT40 > |
