Genset battery consistently connected to house batteries

The genset battery and house batteries seem to be permanently wired together. Shouldn't there be a switch somewhere to isolate the genset? Can't find anything near the genset. Where would the factory have installed such an item? If it wasn't a standard feature (the fact the dash has a rocker switch to throw the genset battery in while starting makes me think it was) has anyone installed one?
