That's where mine is, front of the engine. It's driven off the injector pump
shaft via the transfer gear bolt. Transfer gear for lack of a better term
indexes into the cam gear and turns the pump. The bolt secures the pump gear to
the tapered shaft of the pump. Engine timing adjustment is accomplished by
moving the gear on the taper. Bolt is torqued to 110 ft. #s. 'When' my tach
drive fails I'm going to investigate taking the signal off the fly wheel ring
gear. There's a threaded bore in the bell housing for that use. The sensor is
from a Ford medium duty.
