Everyone needs a good virus protection program
I used AVG free for about 5 years until I had a problem with it recently. Now I
use Microsoft's free anti-virus and anti malware program. It is Microsoft
Security Essentials.

http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Seems to work fine so far, updates itself and you can schedule when to scan,
plus it is always working in the background chacking incoming files, etc.
I also use Advanced System Care from iobit.com to keep the registry clean and
also checks for Malware.
