'05 Grand Cherokee Toad
I have used the indepedent light wiring kit put out by Blue Ox to do
both the Grand Cherokee toads that I have had. Both of them, latest being 2004, had available empty compartments in the rear bulb housing to add independent lighting (aimed at the emergency vehicle market per the literature). The Blue Ox kit is inexpensive, quick to install and doesn't involve diodes or touching the existing vehicle wiring looms. The biggest chore is to drill out a 1" hole to insert the bulb assembly. I would be surprised if the 2005 did not have a similar setup. Based on all the expensive electronics on the Grand Cherokee, I did not want to mess with the wiring looms and have warranty issues if something ever went wrong.
