Paul,

No check engine light in an SP as you have in an electronic controlled engine.
The engine alarm light will indicate low coolant level, high coolant temperature
and low oil pressure (and maybe others - I will try to check whatever else).
Coolant level is the most likely cause if the temp and pressre are OK on your
gages.
