Fire pumpers sit and pump for days sometimes and the hoses would break off due to heat exposure in a very confined mid engine doghouse. The hoses we used solved that issue and would last for years of abuse. The fittings most likely can be reused. The hoses are not that expensive. A burnt up engine will cost up to 20 grand. The hoses on my 8v fell apart in our hands. Was lucky to arrive back home after maiden trip from Georgia. 6v92s have them too. Ernie- 88PT40- in Texas- new hoses= peace of mind
