If they are 6v batteries, you likely have pairs connected into 12's, then they are on parallel with the output being at 12 volts.

What makes you think you have a 48-volt system?



Stock on a 90 would be a single bank of 6 batteries serving both house and chassis. I've seen one where a separate engine bank was installed aftermarket, but the house remained 12 volts. Switching to 48 would require changing way too much stuff for no real gain.



First guess is that you are seeing parallel but thinking series connections, but if I'm wrong I would love to hear about all of the changes made to make 48-volt work, along with the big question: Why?
