batteries

Hi Craig,
I am in the process of changing all of my batteries. I have 3 group 31
starting batteries with 925CCA each. These replaced 3 of the same size
but 750CCA each. Those are mainly for starting the DD 8V92.

I also had 7 12V deep cycle marine/rv batteries for the coach, holds
8. One went bad and have been using 6 until now. I'm replacing with 6
6V golf cart batteries wired for 12V. This will give me 675AH and now
are of a type of battery that can withstand the rigors of
charging/discharging better than the labeled "rv/marine deep cycle".

As you may know, these 2 banks, engine & coach, can be connected
together via a solenoid controlled by a switch on the dash. When
running down the road, the solenoid is automatically engaged to charge
both banks with the on-engine alternators. When you're dry camping the
switch should be off, leaving the coach batteries to power the
interior, etc. This will isolate the engine batteries and keep them
fresh for starting. When back home, I throw the switch to charge both
banks when plugged in.

In addition, I'm adding marine battery switches to completely
disconnect as an optioin. As we all know if you don't plug in or run
the genny, the coach will run the coach batteries down in a few days.
Engine batteries too if the switch is in the wrong position. I will be
able to power off everything and won't need to be plugged in.
