Drivers mirror position
Tim,
FWIW, I'll relate our daughter's experience when driving a Blue Bird school bus. An oncoming truck on a narrow road smashed the mirror and sent broken glass through the open side window. True, it was a west coast style mirror but the farther the mirror protrudes toward the opposing lane the greater the chance you have of clipping the mirror. The problem would be more pronounced on a later model wide-body coach. Looks aside, it would seem to me that overall safety would be enhanced with the mirror closer to the coach and forward with the proviso that the windshield pillar doesn't obstruct you view.
