Troubleshooting Bendix Fast Idle/Cruise Control on 89 35FC 3208 ATAAC
Dick,

FYI in case you need a CC-5 unit. The CC-5 unit is no longer manufactured. A
couple of us just purchased CC-5 potentiometer units through Brake & Clutch
Supply, Seattle, Washington. Talk to Spark. I bought one for possible
future need. Dick Hayden bought one because his CC was not working.

Still is not working even with the new CC-5. I'll look into it later after
we've settled at the winter quarters. Leaving tomorrow morning.

Have you checked your speedometer gear inside the rear wheel? My
cruise control stopped working intermittently and then finally wouldn't
work at all. My fast idle would work fine. But somewhere along the
line my speedometer stopped working. As it turned out it was the
speedometer gear needed replacing. Everything works fine now...

Hey Dan,

can compare notes on where we get work done and NYS ins. etc... I
think our dashes and interiors are very similair also!

I could be wrong but, I don't think that is part of my system. At least
according to the Bendix manual. Mine has a sensor on the tranny that seemed to
be ok but I'm not sure since that is the last I haven't checked completely. I
will need to jack both rear drivers off the ground to check it properly. That's
not easy while I'm on the road.

Troubleshooting Bendix Fast Idle/Cruise Control on 89 35FC 3208 ATAAC
My multimeter testing indicated the potentiometer to be faulty or at
least out of tolernce. I tested with the 'pot' still on the coach
and now am traveling in South Texas and will replace pot in April
after this trip. Parts man named Spark at Seattle Clutch & Brake
fixed me up with a new Bendix pot and spring assembly P/N 101951N.

The CC works poorly but is still useful to allow me to keep my coach
speed above the set speed (cruise control helps pull the injector
pump to 'WOT' wide open throttle.

The high idle still behaves same as when I first bought the FC back
in Sept 2006, i.e. goes to 3000 rpm immediately when pressing the
resume switch on the CC panel.

Troubleshooting Bendix Fast Idle/Cruise Control on 89 35FC 3208 ATAAC
Dick,

Thanks, I appreciate the update on your progress.
I have an intermittent high idle issue, Sometimes it works fine,
Other times the 3208 revs up and I quickly hit the off button.
Our cruise works great, So I am interested in your final outcome.

Thanks Again,

Bill 88 FC Michigan

Troubleshooting Bendix Fast Idle/Cruise Control on 89 35FC 3208 ATAAC
I just wanted to jump in and let folks know that Mike Hohnstein in
Germantown, WI has worked on the Bendix throttle / cruise setup on my
1987 FC 35. I was unable to find a replacement Bendix cable anywhere,
or even get one made, but Mike was able to get the job done. He has
also tuned up the throttle to get me full throttle opening. Anyone
(especially 87-89 FC) experiencing problems with the Bendix, cables,
throttle, setup - I can highly recommend Mike. I would also trust him
with anything else on my engine / drive train, chassis AC (works great
now!), and about anything else he was willing to tackle.

Anyone with an 87-89 FC should keep Mike's number handy in case they
have problems with their Bendix throttle/cruise setup.
