Curt: I know that Ernie is in no position to fund anything like this, nor am I,
but Wanderlodge Owners all around this country could probably fund it through
donations.

I for one, think a database such as this would be wonderful for individuals to
access as well as organizations. I also don't think the world will end if we
don't have it since our primary role here is to help people keep their coaches
running and traveling. They either take advantage of the information or they
don't. You know as well as I that many don't. Many of the older owners aren't
even computer friendly and don't have access to this information exchange.

I would be willing to make a donation.

I think keeping the database up to date would be an even more daunting task
because people just don't always volunteer information about any change in
ownership.

I wonder how many coaches are owned by folks that do not belong to any of the
Wanderlodge Groups?

In all my travels, I would say 50% don't belong to any group. When I introduce myself as Ernie from the Wanderlodgeforum- they look at me and say what is that? Maybe they don't want to meet me??

Ernie, in your reply concerning the above, you mentioned that about
5
years ago you obtained a print out from BB of bird owners that was
about 2"
thick. Do you remember what other info., other than names that were
posted?
If it showed the type of Bird, as 1977 FC31 Gas, etc., that would be
great
information to know. Some day in the future, as some of you have, I
would
like to upgrade to a newer and larger Wanderlodge, and that kind of
info.,
such as how many of each type are out there would be a big help. It
might
steer me one way or another, as, I might not look for a PT 36, if only
a
very few were built/and still on the road. I do at present very much
like
the PT36, and PT38, as well as the SP. And alas, if it was newer than
5yrs.
old, I can guarantee you that some else would have to buy it anyway.
Bluebird, the transit and school bus folks, are still making a front
engine
body, as well as rear engine transit models. Sure would like to see
someone
make
a FC/PT type Wanderlodge again from these bodys. After all, most of
us
aren't millionares, and after X amount of years, could afford to buy a
used
one. As I remember, isn't this how Wanderlodge got its start? Regards,

Regards,

Curt,
That will indeed get you folks who are FMCA members who registered with a BB,
but doesn't mean they still own one, or that they are a member of any chapter,
be it a BB related chapter, or any other. An appropriate officer of any FMCA
chapter can request FMCA provide a listing of members who are not in any chapter
using various criteria (coach brand being one of the choices), to allow chapter
recruitment efforts. FMCA will also mail out contact letters prepared by the
chapter to "qualifying" FMCA members who are not being carried as a member of
any chapter. They will do the letter duplication, evelope addressing, and
absorb some amount of postage ($100?) each year to help you recruit. They will
not solicit any FMCA member for membership in your chapter if they are a member
of another chapter.

I have found this to be true since we left Seattle also.
I can only remember one that was on the forum. Rest don't belong to any group.
They look at me like I came from Mars when I ask if they know about the group.
I mention that they ought to join to keep their bird running, and I have always
gotten the impression that they cound care less.

Bob, Brenda and I were at the holiday rally in 07 in Kerrville. Steve Gureasko and I were walking around the campground. A Prevost Proud rally was there at the same time. Steve asked one of the owners if their group ever has tech seminars. the guy just laughed at as and said, no- we just write a check to get anything fixed. While I would loike to just do that, I get the satisfaction of conquering a problem and making the old girls run, with a little help from my friends. Different strokes~

I have found this to be true since we left Seattle also.
I can only remember one that was on the forum. Rest don't belong to any group.
They look at me like I came from Mars when I ask if they know about the group.
I mention that they ought to join to keep their bird running, and I have always gotten the impression that they cound care less.

Would it be possible that the President of each of these BB clubs be approached to see if they will put out a request to the their own members that thereis a Blue Bird Data Base being put together and that the members can send a email to a central place to make this list. They can then state IF they want thie name to bepublic or private. If the list is to track down as many BB's that are out there then I would think that you would have good participation.

If I spent 150 hours, probable more, 4 states, and apply hi/low per state, seems like an hour estimate of time would be 1,000  to 1,200 hours, probable more hours, to call, write, etc., chase down, and create a database. Plus there are expenses to do just that. Then there are expenses because some owners only use Snail Mail, postage, and time to keep them informed.
