Another compressor problem
Hey Scott,
Where is the air dryer & relief valve on your coach? I had a problem with mine sticking open in freezing weather and could not find it. I'd like to get under there and check the valve heater and/or just replace the thing. -Ryan '86 PT-40 8V92 On Dec 30, 2007 3:15 PM, Scott Forman <sforman@...> wrote: > > If you have an air dryer, check the relief valve, sometimes they stick > open. Mine is on the centerline of the coach just forward of the drive
axle. You can't see it from the side, you have to get under the coach. Ryan,
On the 1986 PT-40, the air dryer is between the tag and the drive axle slightly right of center-line (if my failing memory is correct). I still have the AD-2. I rebuilt mine with parts from NAPA (dessicant, purge valve, check valve). There is a good rebuild manual in the blue-box and can also be found on-line. Thanks, Glenn! I think I'll just go ahead and rebuild mine for the
heck of it. I don't see any mention of it in the maintenance records. -Ryan '86 PT-40 8V92 On Jan 3, 2008 7:36 PM, Glenn Allen > > Ryan, > > On the 1986 PT-40, the air dryer is between the tag and the drive > axle slightly right of center-line (if my failing memory is > correct). Ryan,
You can leave the Air Dryer mounted to the frame. The Dessicant cartridge comes out of the bottom by removing a large nut. You can refill or replace the dessicant cartridge. I replaced the cartridge for about $30. There is also a heater rebuild kit if you feel yours is not working and freezing up. Get the manual if you don't have one. It has all the rebuild parts listed with part numbers. Let me know if you have trouble getting a manual.
