Texas RV Drivers License
Interesting to hear that railroad engineers are now licensed. I worked at Southern Pacific (in the marketing and sales department) through much of 1987 -- apparently the license requirements were instituted after I left. Not surprising, though. Obviously, most rail carriers had many rules and regulations that an engineer must know and observe before being allowed to operate a locomotive by themselves. Southern Pacific was one of the first to have a locomotive simulator (like an aircraft simulator) to train new locomotive engineers.
Of course CDLs are reasonable for maintenance of way and other field employees that might have occasion to drive a truck requiring such a license.

If you have driven semi trucks before it should be no problem. If not get someone to take you somewhere where you can practice a little. I was required to back down a ally to a dock during my last test.
