Memorial Day
Since somebody is wanting to keep track I will throw in my two cents worth.
Drafted in November 1966 Discharged in October 1968. I was told then that was the largest draft call since WWII. Don't know that to be the truth but it seemed plausible with the buildup in Nam at the time. I lost one of my best friend and next door neighbor there. He was a West Point grad. I haven't been able to bring myself to go to the Wall in DC yet. I get all knotted up just thinking about it. I will do it someday soon. God Bless all veterans but most especially those that are in harms way today and keeping us safe. --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, Tom Warner > > Howard I spent 8 years in the Air Force first stationed at Biloxi, > Mississipt for advanced communications training, in France for 4 > years on an assignment with the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Quick > reaction Communications, 3 months in Iran in 1964 providing > communications for the Joint Chiefs during the Indo/Pakistani war, > Denver Colorado for a year for certification as a metrology > technician then another year at Malmstrom AFB , Montana ( in our > missle silos )for advanced training, then to a classified site in the > far east in 1968 where I got sick, med evactd to an Army Medical > Hospital in Hawaii where I was operated on and from which I was > discharged with a VA disability in 1968 and went back to college. Memorial Day
Bob I had a cousin that was the DO at FT Drum for the 10th and as the Civilian
Tech Director at Griffiss I helped him on occasion arrange flights for Drum troops all over the world. Don I was in Iran in 1964 with the US Air force airborne command post "Talking Bird" to arrange communications during the Indo Pakistani war. Small world isnt it? tom Warner 1985 PT 40 --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Don Bradner" > > Hey, I don't run into many that served in Iran! I was an SP5 with the "TTT" - Topo Training Team, stationed out of Tehran from October of '66 until discharge in April of '69. Mostly in the field - went to every nook and cranny of Iran by truck, fixed wing, helicopter, rail car, Gendarmarie speedboat, or pack horse. Worked another year there after I got out before coming home. > > Don Bradner > 90 PT40 "Blue Thunder" > My location: http://www.bbirdmaps.com/user2.cfm?user=1 > > On 5/26/2009 at 10:26 PM BOB MALONEY wrote: > > >> > > iwas in army security 1963 -67 served in iran bob maloney > >87fc35 claycity ky > |

Memorial Day
Indeed. At least 3 Bird owners who served in Iran. Intersection of two small
populations!
