changing out front TV in 1988 PT40
Hello to all,

We are looking into changing out the front old Panasonic TV in our bus to a
newer flat pannel and were wondering if anyone had any experience with tapping
into the current sound how it is set up.

Currently the only sound from the front tv comes out of the speakers by the sofa
and dinette. Found that BB had drilled a hole in back of old tv and tapped into
old tv speakers and ran a wire that looks like it goes to 2 separate wires that
goto the coach speakers which also are the ones for the radio. Am I making any
sense?

Can we get a new tv and use composite cables and tap into these same wires so we
can use the bigger speakers? What is the best way to do this?

Does anyone know if the current setup uses the dash stereo amp or if there is a
separate amp? Any help, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
thanks so much!

Teri,

Assuming the new TV has a Headphone Jack, it can be used to get the sound to the speakers. The Head Phone output is weak so the sound should go through an amp. I had already replaced the amp system in our coach so I used Y-adapters to connect the Headphone Jack wires to the amp.

My '90SP was set up similarly. I ran a cable down to the dash from the TV's line
out jacks in case we want to play it through the stereo, however, we have just
used the speakers built into the TV so far, as this gives the best imaging
(stereo phenomenon) and localizing (having the sound come from the image), and
sounds great. I posted some picts of our modification in our picasa photo album,
but I didn't have one of the TV mount installed before hanging the TV :-(

If you run any cables through the "A" pillar, be sure to also run any you might
need in the future as well.
