Now you see why Greg gets "banned."
I happen to think both groups have unique values all their own. That's why I participate in both of them. WOG also has a certain value, too ... but I never really got going with that one. (There's only so much time in the day...)
Ernie, you have a great discussion list and it is quite valuable. Don't let un-thinking comments get you down.

No it was a management list found surfing the site. I go to woo for info, I find the site informative. you don't have to be a member to find anything if you master boolean terms for query's you can search the woo site with google.

Like you say, this yahoo site does not gate open the files for view of bots, spyders etc which are search engine readers that take the stats and key terms from woo and do with the terms and info as Dewey did with a library card catalog back when. that limits the chance that a good, welth rich poster will get the chance to enrich the contents with posts because the yahoo site is hidden from Search engine surfing. Woo will eventually have the best content and be the most trusted.

One danger of one trusted source I realized was ; in 2005 a yahoo member that had a bus for sale called me on the phone asking if I would talk it up on the site. The dialogue started with his other friends and I turned into a prick when I gave my true opinion on the hype not the bus when I had fear that someone would rely on the information that gained credibility with unfounded testimonials in print on the site. I later hyped what I still fell to be a good bus and deal that someone lost a one grand deposit on based on my boasted opinion. It cost me 4 hours off my legal retainer to get his grand back, The tuition held value.

You would be doing them a big favor if you would point out where that is, as
they can't find it. If you can't find it, you might mention that you can't.

I own/run several forums, as well as moderating others including Yahoo forums.
I've never seen a web-based piece of forum software that exposes ban lists to
anyone without admin privileges, but perhaps there's a bug somewhere that needs
to be corrected.

I'm a bit sensitive on the topic of someone suggesting that private parties
doing forums about branded products are in any way detrimental, since most of
the ones I do deal with some product or another.

For that matter, on my commercial site I come up on Google number one ahead of
the manufacturer on dozens of product lines. I would argue that is good for both
of us - certainly I've never had a manufacturer complain; in fact it usually
gives us an advantage in buying power with them.

It is my view that all 4 forums and all formal and informal bluebird/wanderlodge
clubs are valuable and contribute to the longevity of the brand and helps people
fix their equipment. We,as a team, are in far better shape than some of the
other "orphans" out there in the industry. If they didn't provide value, they
would not have a membership / following. Now, with that said...

As a point of information, not pointing any fingers at ANYONE, just for those
who have never seen this before........

"Troll (Internet)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Do not feed the trolls" and its abbreviation DNFTT redirect here. For the
Wikimedia essay, see "What is a troll?".
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory,
irrelevant, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online
discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other
users into an emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic
discussion."

- forums are a lot like national parks..... "signs post to not feed the wild
animals"......but people still do and I guess forums will always feed the
trolls, after all, they still need to eat!!!!!!:-)
HAHAHAHHHAHAHA - just a joke.......... to inject levity!!!!!

- On a more serious note, some good came from this thread, I was bored yesterday
so I tried the suggested search... I used the word "classified" in the string so
I could bring up wanderlodges for sale...... which it did, but it also brought
up the "members list" from Bruce's forum....... not good ( get it, classified
list). Now I know Randy's forum just upgraded their software last week and his
list DID NOT show up......... so my best guess is their is a "bug" in v bulletin
software...... and also proves someone's earlier point that everyone's
contribution is important BUT a little common courtesy for our fellow members
would go a LONGGGGGG way!

Pete a great search tool on google is to put site:"domain.com,net,org" after the
last term in your search. this will bring up only the hits on that domain.

like:

series 60 data port site:wanderlodgeownersgroup.com
would find all the hit pages with the 4 terms on that site only. you can
farther search a site once it showes up in a search by adding the site: limit to
the next set of results

Or:
wanderlodge -fc -forward site:craigslist.org
to search every craigslist across the country but not include FC in the results
if it is a pusher you seek

google also has an advance search that will filter out date ranges go to the
hyperlink "advanced search" after the click to search button, at the bottom is a
date range option, click on that, make a choice then the results will only hold
the chosen attributes.

on this site searches for files and attachments make them almost useless.
members here need to use more descriptive subject headings or file names. a
google search wont yield results so that search is not available. the "series
60 dataport" recent post was a good example of a thread that will be useful
forever as it is easy to find in a onsite search.

Intellectual Property arrives at Parliament Coach Corp. Clearwater, Fl.

Until the day comes that I know it all, I will listen to anyone with knowledge or an opinion in the hopes of learning something new. Therefore I belong to WOO, WOG, Vintage, FoF , and Ernie's site here. While I certainly don't always agree with some posts, I have found this and the other sites to be invaluable to wannabees, newbees, and the old guard. It is my wish to be able to give back to all of you who DO give so freely of yourselves. Just my 2 cents! Thank you! Elliot

The dialogue started with his other friends and I turned into a prick
when I gave my true opinion on the hype not the bus when I had fear that someone would rely on the information that gained credibility with unfounded testimonials in print on the site. I later hyped what I still fell to be a good bus and deal that someone lost a one grand deposit on based on my boasted opinion. It cost me 4 hours off my legal retainer to get his grand back, The tuition held value.

Intellectual Property arrives at Parliament Coach Corp. Clearwater, Fl.
I agree with Pete that all the resources are valuable... I've saved myself immense time, money and effort thanks to the folks particularly on this group, and made our experience as Bluebird owners much richer. While I've met only a few in person I consider everyone here a friend. I hope to meet more of you as time passes. And as a moderator and owner on other Yahoo groups, I understand how difficult it can be to keep the peace, and offer my thanks to Ernie for doing that quite well. And taking a breath to relax and let some of our offended feelings float away is probably a good thing.

And with that in mind, I would like to suggest that just because one may infer an offense doesn't mean it was intended. In real life I find myself taking offense at all sorts of things that have nothing to do with me, and someone
(usually my wife) has to remind me that it isn't all about me. As a somewhat less interested party on this topic, I saw Greg's comments as simply informative, and at the worst constructive criticism not of the work that Ernie and the many very active and knowledgeable posters do, but more of some of the inherent limitations of each of the online tools we use. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he was sitting there thinking while he wrote his note "I'll get back at them - but it'll be subtle enough that some will just think it's tech talk."

Intellectual Property arrives at Parliament Coach Corp. Clearwater, Fl.

I, too, enjoy the help available on the forum. So far, it has saved my butt about 5 times when problems arose. In fact, most answers came within 15 minutes - I find that amazing! I really need this forum because I don't know it all.

I don't take offense to anyone here. While opinions vary, I have the ability to use my BS filter and I ignore anything destructive. I refuse to participate in the arguments and sometimes find them amusing and/or entertaining. Frankly, others should do the same. And, I find the 'shoe' entertaining. I don't think every post has to be BB related.

All forums have people who are controversial and people who choose to argue with them. It's best to just ignore it and focus on the good stuff.

I thank Ernie (and anyone else) for keeping this resource alive and well. I know I need the help and hope to help others when I can.

Hi Ernie
i thought I knew the English language, and I love to read this site. But what Greg is saying, I have not the faintest Idea what he is talking about. No clue whatsoever. So, I will just skip it then and keep reading on about the BB problems, cautions, fixes, remedies etc like I have been doing. I think you are doing a great job. Just hope that you find a lot of work in flooring and fixing. Keep up the good works, I like it

Greg,

I guess your saying that once upon a time if you googled:
"Wanderlodge Owners Group blocked users" some thread
within WOG showed up? and that pressure from some other
competing wanderlodge forum prompted the removal of the
thread?

Unfortunately groups like WOG and WOO are private and are
not democratic organizations. The forum czars hold the final
word on what the rules are, what topics are allowed, what gets
moderated or censored, etc. The only recourse is to start your
own forum. I completely agree that competing forums keep
people honest and limit the infringement on free speech. But
as long as the forums are privately owned and funded, free
speech is always in doubt. It would be interesting to start a
forum and to run it like PBS with grants and individual monetary
contributors, free of corporate America. Only then can we
approach a democracy where the populace dictates who owns
what and what gets printed.

John does a wonderful job and is overly helpful over there. I am sure Randys has spent upwards of 15G's on the upkeep and development and countless un billable attention time. Their google placement will attest to that. The source is a better place to find members and pool of information as this yahoo information wont show up in a google search . There is a definite need for the site and the success proves the value.

There was a list displayed that had a banter title and description. problem with banter, if one 'party of' is silenced, statements by the other is defamation. Problem with too much control of one forum is when it is the only source, what can be done, is done irregardless of the merit or un answered replies(by silence of those in control) . if the list is removed, it was this site that prompted removal which only proves merit in the existance of addital sources.

I wont last on the site so I quit. John even quit Wanderlodge_ all when I joined, what do you think my chances were. the best way to not be put on the index was to not participate. I dont want to add to information that is possibly filtered or lost at the whim of few (however well respected) individuals.

when HomeDepot was the only game in Romoland, 2x4,s were green crooked and $5.00. Lowes came to Town, now ; the 2x4's are $3.10 furniture grade and a cleark will help load your truck.
