Has anybody found a stainless muffler option?

John,

Stephen Birtles has a stainless muffler but you won't like the price.

John, I recently purchased and installed a complete turbo to tip stainless steel exhaust system in my M380. It is ceramic coated to keep heat down and included a stainless steel "Aero" muffler, which has a significantly smaller diameter than the stock unit, allowing more air flow in the exhaust chase.
The system was custom built by A & W Productions in Texas. These are the people that fabricate exhaust for Peterbilt trucks. The person to speak with is a gentleman named Marshall Waters, and A&W's information can be found here.
http://aandwproductions.com/index.html
The price of the complete system for an M380 was just over $600.00 plus shipping.

FYI here are a couple of pics, first is looking down the chase with the Aero muffler in place and the second just shows exhaust routing through the engine compartment

Chuck,

Thanks for that info. I'll get hold of him and see what I find.

Jim,

That looks pretty good! That should really help with the bedroom heat the 380's see. What are your thoughts about the sound from the new muffler versus the old?

Thanks for both your inputs!

The coach is a bit louder but not enough that it bothers me. I was actually hoping that it would be louder than it is!!

As an fyi,

1) A and W doesn't yet have capabilities to make 6" pipe. They told me they have equipment coming to do so in the future. So right now, they can only make 5" and smaller.

2) I have never heard back from Dupree products on a muffler price.

3) I'm in the process of having BH Tubes make pipes for me. We'll see how that goes. So far, it's out a 6.5 out of 10 experience.

I sent another email to Dupree products and promptly heard back from Stephen on a muffler. My first email probably just got lost in cyberspace. It's not out of line, imho- $790 for a stainless version of the oem one. Same overall length, but slightly smaller in diameter- which would be a bonus. Given a stock steel one is almost $300, this is reasonable for a "never replace again" version, especially if somebody's coach spends a lot of time outside or in the rain. Even more so if you're OCD and want to polish it! (David! ) Big Grin

David,

The link to the Pittsburgh Power website isn't working. The information however is very helpful. Can you please provide me with either the muffler diameter or part number? Here is what they have that appears to be it:

Dan,

Send Eric Moser at Pittsburg Power an email. He will help you choose the correct muffler. Eric was very helpful in helping me purchase and install their Power Box on my S60. I now have 575 horses pushing me up the grades. Yippee!!
