Racor Help
There is a knurled nut on the bottom of the racor. Unscrew that a little and
some fuel will come out. Ernie-83pt40 in louisiana

Racor Help
What maintenance does the Racor on my FC require? I know what a Racor
does, but don't know much about the thing, and there's no manual in my
Blue Box. Help?

Racor Help
I can't remember the specified service interval, but if you don't have
a "water in fuel" light, and the Racor gauge (to the right of your
right knee in the carpeted engine cover) is in the green when at full-
throttle, likely nothing other than a visual inspection to ensure that
the bowl doesn't have sediment or water in the bottom of it.
Occasionally draining a cup of fuel (while engine is running if
equipped with the electric pump, without engine running if not) from
the bottom of the bowl to check for contaminants.

I change both fuel filters with every oil change, believe that the
interval is actually twice that long, but it is a convenient time to
dispose of all filters and fuel/oil. Again, changing the Racor on an
electric-pump equipped FC ('83-up?) is a fairly simple matter as you
change the filter, install the lid with the TEE-handle a turn or two
loose, start the engine, and when fuel starts coming out of the top of
the filter casing around the tee-nut you tighten the tee-nut. Self-
priming. For the non-electric-boost-pump folks it is not this easy
unfortunately, I remember it well.

Ernie.make sure your engine is shut off prior to draining the water off the
bottom of your racor filter.otherwise you will suck air into your injectors
and can lose prime. Dave 91 WLPT 40
