LXi chassis design
Folks,

I've suddenly taken an interest in how the chassis is
designed in my LXi. Does anyone on the list have any
detailed pics of the chassis. I've been under mine to
piece it together, but given all the insulation sprayed
about, its a bit hard to see. What I've been able to
see are the two 10"x3"x5/16" C channel rails forming the
main load bearing frame ladder. These seem to be
capped with a bulk head behind the front wheels and
ahead of the rear wheels, and then there are two
longitudinal frame members, 8"x2" square cross-section
tubes, that run underneath the C channels connecting
the bottoms of the front and rear bulk heads. Attached
to the C-channels are vertical outriggers that form the
insides of the basement box. These boxes are triangulated
and have angle iron that runs the length of the coach on
the bottom outside edge and have cross members that
span the entire distance on the bottom from side to side.
The house is built on top of this platform. It would have
been fascinating to see the assembly process back in
2003 as the last of the LXi's came off the line. Any
pics anyone?

Thanks,
David Brady
