New motor put in 2000 by ARMS Inc.in Anna OH. We brought it in 2002 and
it has never been in winter months.
Greg you said to do the cheapest gasket repair. What's that?
Also I notice that it stayes near normal operating temperatures on the
HWY. On idle the water temp starts to go up.
Their is only 13,700 miles on the rebuilt motor.
Thanks for your input

Joe, cheapest is relative. In the Detroit 6V you can do an inframe
and repair just that which is broken. On the Cat 3208 if you have a
prob. with one cyl the block has no replaceable sleeves and must be
removed and sent out to a shop (Detroit 8.2 is the same). They call
the DD 8.2 and Cat 3208 throwaway engines but the Cat proves to be a
Rock (many feel Cat built the 3208 stronger because it had no inframe
buildability). Tom W, Randy, Mike, and the others can best give you
advice, but there is more testing and review that cant be done via a
keyboard.

I would call on the shop that did the rebuild in 2002. They may
have a Mobil Tech in your area or know of one. These engines get one
million miles but that is with inframes and many repairs along the
way. RV people tend to over fix things. If a good tech can find a
leaking sleeve (??p test each cyl ) I would replace just that
cylinder sleeve. Your effort would be best spent finding a good tec/
problem solver than a good certified rebuild/replace shop.

Last week I bought 4 tires for my Vega at Pepboys and the service
clerk asked if I wanted road hazzard tire replacement protection at
6.99 per tire. I bought it on only one tire (as he protested). What
are the chances of having 4 flats??
