air leak/vacuum generator leak

air leak/vacuum generator leak
Wouldn't the unknown hose be the air to run the vac generator?

There are two vacuum (?) hoses coming off the generator. One goes to
the cruise, the other to ???. The air system schematics that came
with my coach don't show any of that circuit as far as I can see.
Perhaps the second hose is a return line to catch the compressed air
after it produces a vacuum?
I'm guessing it's sole pupose is for the cruise control, replacing the
electric vacuum pump that was the source of vacuum in earlier years.
You should be able to tell if yours is working by testing the input
vacuum line into the vacuum canister on the top left of the engine.
If you have enough vacuum there, that's not your problem.

air leak/vacuum generator leak
The generator screws directly into an air manifold, receiving it's air
thru that threaded connection. (at least on my coach). It has three
barbed outlets. One to the cruise control, one to ??, one with
nothing attached. Air was leaking out of unused fitting on mine.
Once I took it apart and reassembled it (partly) that leak stopped
when I tested it by blowing thru it. I suspect the plastic needle
valve was stuck.

When that happened on my FC, the air continuously expelled from the vacant
fitting, the vac generator was replaced and the symptom stopped. However, I
must tell you the rest of the story, though it would then engage, the cc would
surge so badly that it couldn't be used. I think that was a low voltage problem
but I never tackled that problem.

air leak/vacuum generator leak
My cruise control has been working but not correctly. It surges or
cuts out unless I just keep slight pressure on the accelerator, then
it seems to work ok. We'll see what happens once I fix the vacuum
generator.
