I placed an order for the ShurFlo Smart Sensor 5.7 from rvpartsoutlet.
They have the best price that I've seen so far. I'll let you know how it

I, too, just placed an order for the same pump ... and
RVPartsOutlet.com had the best price. Both of my Shurflow 2088 pumps
have seeping leaks -- and I'm not impressed with the rat's nest of
plumbing required to use them. Since I was going to have to rebuild
both pumps, this looks like a better solution. (I wasn't too pleased
with the delivery/pressure from the 2088s either.)

I'll post my impressions once I get the new pump installed.

Pete, if you only use one pump you must plug the in and out of the
one not used or connect both in's and outs to the new one. I put a
tube in-line of a leaking pump for a temp fix once. the tube caused a
circular path for the water. The not used pump has a check valve that
must close for the other pump to build pressure.. I think that check
valve on a nonoperating pump is the cause when some coaches pump
have continual run, low pressure problems.

Thanks for the suggestions ... I suspected that the removed pump
would be blocked off or the ins/outs tied together. I'll take some

Thanks to Darsts and others for the information on variable speed fresh water
pumps. I
installed a 4.5 gpm FloJet Sensor VSD in our coach a couple of days ago. I can
still hear it
run but, it's much quieter than the old Shurflo plus we get higher flow rates
when we want
them. Picked it up at New Braunfels Camping World for $170.

One feature I really appreciated while installing it in the small cavity behind
the galley
cabinets was the rotatable inlet/outlet fittings versus fixed orientation of the
old pump
fittings. They have a clever quick change system for straight or 90º elbows and
barbed
versus threaded.

Now we'll see how reliable it is.
