All,

Sorry to hear about the demise of Wanderlodge. Although I'm not that old, I've studied the history of Packard. While there are important differences in the circumstances, there are similarities. Both werepassionate about seeing how good they could make things, rather than fitting into some bean-counters' marketing strategy. Both had high standards of engineering, materials and overall quality. While they didn't always succeed at meeting every standard they set, I believe they tried for the most part. Despite corporate failure, both companies will live on indefinitely in the fine automobiles they produced.

Regarding air springs: I haven't even thought about my LXi, but on my Newell, they(Goodyear) needed replacement at about 16-17 years. Like many things, I believe the more they are used, themore likely they are to approach their design-life. Sitting immobile in heat, cold and moisturemust be as bad on air bags as it is on tires.

Regarding my refrigerator (now it's all about me): Did the same thing this time. Toward the end of our our trip (Day 5) it started warming up. Nothing we did would stop it. We switched from AC to LP and back again. We shut down and re-started. I could hear it light and run. It seemed to do better standing still than going down the road but that's the only clue I have.If we were on generator going down the road or on LP it kept on losing ground. There are 3 things that I know of to suspect: A. Cooling element. B. Circuit board C. Automatic shutdown (when door is open too long...also probably under B. ) Any other thoughts or diagnoses? I also lostmy compartment lights and locks and my landing lights on both sides, while they indicated "on" on the dash.I ran through the schematics for the right fuses and breakers but they all seemed okay. Strange.

Finally, HendersonBeach State Parkat Destin is as nice as any pay-park we've been in (including Long Island at Port Isabel). It has no TV, WiFi or Golf, but great sugar-sand beaches, security, friendly staff, daily-maintained grounds, wide, long parking places separated by heavy scrub vegetation between spaces, clean shower rooms, great dining, shopping, walking and sunsets. We got there a night early, so they let us dry-camp in the day-use parking lot on the grounds for nothing. It's also across the street from WalMart and Hertz if you rent like us rather than tow. And for less than $25 a night, we thought it was a bargain. You have to reserve well in advance throughReserveAmerica.
