Buzzer sounding in dash

Buzzer sounding in dash
Hi group
Left Willits, CA today, heading N on 101 back to Oregon. About 60 some
miles into the drive a buzzer started sounding in the dash.
No lights, all gauges in the normal range. Not overheated....hmm
Checked all fluid levels before we left.

Pulled over in a safe place and did a walk around, everything fine.
When the radiator cools I'll recheck fluid level.

When I turn the key on without starting the engine the buzzer comes
on...not low air etc.

If the rad. level ok , any thing I should be forwarned about if I
drive on the Eureka, another 80 miles or so?

Bird is running fine....

Thanks

Check your levelers, if one is not fully stowed, it can move upon
hitting a bump and that will activate the buzzer even if the 'Master
Leveling' switch is off. A quick way to tell is to turn on 'Master
Leveling' and see if you have a red light (assuming yours work).

I have gotten a leveler buzzer before on my old 82 FC and my current
86 PT.

Buzzer sounding in dash
Once, I had a mysterious buzzer come on in the dash. Nothing amiss. Gauges all ok. No warning lights. Checked everything as I sat by the side of the road. Buzzer quit when I shut down and came back on when I restarted. No error codes in the system. Complete puzzlement. Sat by the road for about half an hour (poking at this and that) in complete befuddlement. Started up again -- buzzer sounding. Continued on my way another 50 miles (to a SWBB rally) trying to ignore the buzzer.

Next morning, no buzzer. No repeat ever since. Have driven 15,000 miles since then. Still OK. Still no idea what was going on or why the buzzer was sounding.

Just watch your gauges and keep your fingers crossed.

PS. I wish BB had made the @$#$%!! buzzers easier to get to -- I'd have disconnected a wire if I could have located the darn thing.

Actually, one rear jack was only about an inch lower than the other,
in it's normal place retracted and stored, not noticeable at all
visually unless you squat and reference a point on the frame. just
enough to jiggle the connection I suppose. It's off and on now, bumpy
101 at times.
at least now I know what the buzzer is when it goes. Will deal with it
at home, the jacks need some R&R anyway, as per JP's short fix it list.

Pete,
did you use your leveling jacks when you spent the night?
Maybe yours had shook down a little...if you used them for your stay
when you lifted the levelers they parked correctly and stayed.
I will check the hydraulic resevoir in the morning. Haven't been
needing to use them but know we've got some drips from the levelers.
Need to get them rebuilt I know.

I have the same problem.

Only thing is, the buzzer goes off. Just the level-warning light stays on. It's a bad sensor I'll try to have replaced ata Wanderlodge Rally someday.

Buzzer sounding in dash
I suppose it could have been a low or out of position jack. The California freeways are notoriously bumpy. They've never given any trouble before or since. But it's not one of the things that came to mind to check. They do take quite a long time to clear the lights on the HWH panel when raising them -- but I always do a walk around and check to see that the jacks are fully retracted before moving the coach.

Probably didn't affect the fuel mileage much. Might even improve it...

Rosemary,
I had the same thing happen to me, what I have learned from it is, if the buzzer sounds right away turn on the leveling master switch, if one of the red light lights up then you know immediately it is a leveler jack...

Buzzer sounding in dash
To Rose Mary and other FC Owners,

I had this same problem this past December. Warning buzzer and light.
All gauges, oil & temp, where reading normal. Oil and coolant levels
were normal.

I needed to make a quick trip but knew we would go crazy listening to
that buzzer. Satisfying myself that all engine systems where OK and
that the problem was in the alarm-sensor system, I disconnected the
buzzer(light stayed on).

By removing the front, drivers side panel, I was able to locate a
small control box made by Kysor Cadillac. It is very difficult to see
and even more difficult to get to. One of the lugs was labeled
something like alarm audio or buzzer, or wording to that affect.
Disconnecting that, the buzzer when out and we were able to make our
trip in peace.

Upon returning, I reconnected the alarm, and started disconnecting
each senor lug individually until I found which sensor was the
problem. I turned out to be the oil senor.

From inside the Coach, looking into the doghouse, I found a oil senor
on the cylinder head on the right side. It has one wire running to it.
After removing the senor, I when to NAPA and by looking at the
pictures in the catalog we where able to select one that was most
appropriate (no part number on the existing). This fixed the problem,
no buzzer, no idiot light.

The senor had developed a small oil leak.
I had concern that the problem was the Kysor Cadillac control box and
was relieved to find out it is ok.

A fellow Blue Birder, Lucas Willemse, advised that the company is now
called Medallion Kysor. Their phone is 616-850-8048 if you ever have
the need.

Hope this may you and others if this problem comes up again.
