Driving lights -operation?

Tom, I have the same configuration, although without the fog in Texas. I look
forward to learning what you come up with.

Tommy 2 shoes,
I am in the process of getting mine working and everyhing that Curt
S. has said is the way mine work also. I don't know of any logic
behind it working off the high beams. Mine has 1 clear and 1 amber
light. The amber light, the lens is broke. I've gotten as far as e-
mailing photo's to hella to get a replacement clear lens (then I'll
have two clear ones).
Does anyone happen to have a part number?
Once I get the new air cyclinder and new lense I think mine should
work as designed. I may have to make some adjustments on the clevis
pin on the air cylinder, the micro switch and some lubrication,
though.

Tommy I only have fog lights and a switch labelled Fog. I do have the spot
for Driving Lights but it is fitted with a blank instead of a switch. Like I
said my Fog lights only work if I have the lights on and set to low beam

Tom, My Pinto and Vega fog lights only work on low beam but the
Maverick doesnt even have fog lights. When driving requires fog
lights, I use the coffee maker and wait.

It should be a simple change -- moving one wire to the correct relay.
However, what seems simple on a 'bird rarely is. The real trick is
finding the "right" wire!

You may want to take your 'bird out to a lonely, dark stretch of road
and determine if the lights are, in fact, fog or driving lights. If
they're driving lights, they will simply increase the glare in fog.
Fog lights should have a broad, low-aimed beam while the driving
lights would have a narrow, long beam.

You may need to change the lenses to have proper fog lights.

Hi Tom,

I have not followed this thread,
But I have driving lights mounted in the bumper, (Not air
activated). I was unhappy with the high / low beam set-up. So I
rewired, and now turn on the driving lights with the on/off switch
only, not the high beam switch.

You always do it right. I was talking with Marty Haberman a few days ago. He
is rewiring his headlights. Marty and I agreed that the driving lights
should be on their own switch/control.

I went to Napa and purchased a set of halogen lights. I installed them using a
relay and a seperate switch. I use them for day recognition lights. That way
none of the other electrical lighting system is on. When I need light at night
as I recently did in a dark campground in the GA mountains I have Ten lights
shining. I hope no one wants to sleep. lol 6 halogen headlights, 2 driving
lights and 2 spot lights. Turn on the landing lights and the world lights up.

I like that kind of talk. Let there be light! Does anybody have any idea why my
fog lights only work when the high beams are on? Turn on the dash switch for the
fog lights, nothing! They only work with the driving lights on high beam.
Recently, I took the headlight switch apart to firm up the contacts, the running
lights were going in and out. I didn't check to see if the fog lights were
connected to the main switch, but there are four wires connected to it. Any help
would be great.

Apparently, fog lights and driving lights are two different concept.
While my dash switch reads, "Driving/Fog Lights," I found that they
only worked with HIGH beams on. This configuration is
considered "Driving" lights.

I always used "Fog" lights with low beams. My Driving/Fog lights do
not work with Low beams. In fog, therefore, they are useless. Since
I rarely travel with High beams, I am having them switched to work as
normal "Fog" lights with low beams. To each his own.
